Styles : ELECTRO DRUM & BASS BIOGRAPHY
Su:Real (AKA Susana Correia) began spinning electronic music in late
1998. Having been heavily influenced by the early new wave/ industrial music
scene in NY in the late 80’s, she always felt a deep desire to unleash her
own inner musical style. The dark techie sounds which emerged from electro
and drum & bass in the mid-late 90’s was the final inspiration she needed to
teach herself to spin. She moved to Puerto Rico in early 2000, and within
one year was spinning at an outdoor rave at the infamous Tunnel of Guajataca
alongside Ray Keith and David Padilla, solidifying herself as the island’s
first professional female vinyl jockey.
Su:Real has been a solid influence in the electronic music scene in Puerto
Rico for the past six years. She has shared the stage with the likes of
Hybrid, Armin Van Buren, Green Lantern (Eminem’s DJ), Andy C, Marky, Ed Rush
& Optical, Adam F, Black Sun Empire, Total Science, among others. Her style
can be described as dark yet typically dancefloor-oriented. She currently
holds residencies at Moorings and Brava and also runs her own weekly at
Joshua’s (1104 Ashford Ave. Condado) called “Audiophile Fridays” featuring
electro and other techno/electro-inspired music. In 2003, Su:Real released a
drum & bass track with Rob F called “Deceit” on Hostile Recordings. She has
been featured in Puerto Rican magazines, newspapers as well as on local
radio, TV and internet radio shows. Su:Real’s versatility and natural
musical talent have made her a respected name in the scene. Already
considered one of PR’s top dj’s, Su:Real still feels she is just getting
started.
